Accretive president, CEO resigns

Accretive Health Inc. president and CEO Steve Schuckenbrock will step down when his contract expires in October.

Schuckenbrock’s resignation was announced Wednesday by the Chicago-based firm that handles billing and collections for hospitals. Chief operating officer Joe Flanagan will assume more responsibilities and lead a newly created Transformation Office. Accretive said it has begun a search for a new chief executive.

“A year ago we tapped Steve’s leadership skills to improve the company’s operational execution,” said Steve Shulman, the company’s newly appointed chairman. “He stabilized the company and has been implementing a transformation focused on customers, front-line execution and investment in technology.”

Accretive Health was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in March after the company missed a deadline for restating some financial reports.
