A man was shot Wednesday morning in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 11:50 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Morgan Street, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

The 18-year-old man was shot in the back and taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Sedevic said.

Details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available.

Area South detectives are investigating.
