Zion man charged with sexually assaulting two girls

(ZION) A north suburban man has been charged with sexually assaulting two young girls after an investigation into child pornography revealed he’d had sexual contact with them, according to police.

John P. Kerr, 49, was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and five counts of possession of child pornography, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office.

Kerr was arrested at his home in the 3200 block of Ezra Avenue in Zion on Friday after authorities executing a search warrant found media devices containing an “extensive” amount of pornographic images of children, according to the statement.

During the investigation, the sheriff’s cybercrimes unit discovered Kerr had sexually assaulted two girls for a period of time about four years ago, when the victims were both under the age of 13, according to the statement.

Bond was set at $750,000, and Kerr is next scheduled to appear in court May 13 in Waukegan.
