(McCULLOM LAKE) A motorcyclist was seriously hurt and airlifted to a hospital after a crash Tuesday night in northwest suburban McHenry County.
A 2001 Yamaha motorcycle was northbound on Ringwood Road when a 2013 Kia Optima turned left in front of the motorcycle at Orchard Way Drive in an unincorporated area near McCullom Lake, according to a statement from the McHenry County Sheriff’s office.
The driver of the motorcycle was unable to stop, and struck the passenger side of the Kia, according to the statement.
The motorcyclist, a 46-year-old McHenry man, was ejected from the bike, and taken to Centegra Hospital McHenry before being flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the statement
The driver of the Optima, a 25-year-old McHenry man, and his passenger, a 24-year-old McHenry man, were not hurt, according to the statement.
It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, according to the statement, though charges were pending Wednesday morning.
