SHARE Green Line service resumes after being suspended for hours

CTA Green Line trains on the South Side were inoperable for about four hours Monday morning because of a track switching problem near the Garfield station.

The track switching problem began about 6:15 a.m. at the 59th Junction, which is between the Garfield and King Drive stations, the CTA said. Service was suspended between Garfield and Ashland/63rd-Cottage, the CTA said.

About 10:30 a.m., some Green Line trains were operating normally, said CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinksi. Some riders were stuck on trains, but it wasn’t immediately known for how long, Hosinksi said.
