Here’s another reason (besides the obvious) to be happy you live in Illinois instead of Wyoming: It costs significantly less to own and operate a car in Illinois, according to Bankrate’s 2014 car cost study.

In fact, Illinois has the third-lowest overall annual cost.

Bankrate analyzed the cost of car insurance, repairs and gas across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, through a data provided by CarMD.com, GasBuddy.com, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
