A man was shot in the East Side neighborhood on the Far South Side on Wednesday night.

About 7:50 p.m., the 23-year-old was shot in the hand during an attempted robbery in the 11200 block of South Avenue H, police said. The shooter ran off without getting any of the man’s property.

The man drove himself to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
