A newborn baby girl found dead outside an Uptown neighborhood high-rise Wednesday nightwas beaten to death, an autopsy Thursday revealed.

The girlwas found in the grass about 11:45 p.m. outside a high-rise in the 800 block of West Eastwood, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Shewas taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:57 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Thursday revealed the girl died of multiple blunt force injuries, authorities said. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police could be seen searching for evidence and taking photographs outside a building in that block early Thursday.

Area North detectives areconducting a death investigation and no one wasin custody as of late Thursday afternoon.
