Three people were struck by a van Thursday during the afternoon rush in the Loop.

Firefighters responded about 4:20 p.m. to Monroe and State, Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Walter Schroeder said.

A man and a woman, both 23 years old, were both taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, according to Chicago Police. Schroeder said a third person declined medical treatment.

The driver of the van, a 53-year-old man, remained at the scene and citations were pending Thursday night, police said.
