Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a northwest suburban man missing from the Island Lake area for almost a month.

Michael Babincsak, 59, of unincorporated McHenry, was reported missing by family May 29, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, investigators were utilizing a helicopter to searchfor him near Route 176 and Roberts Road, police said.

The Wauconda Fire Department also assisted in searching ponds with sonar equipment, police said.

Babincsakis described as a 6-feet-1, 270-pound white man with brown and grey hair, police said. He was last seen wearing a white tshirt and gray sweatpants.
