A west suburban man was killed earlier this month when he became trapped under construction equipment in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Emergency crews were called about 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 1 to the 5300 block of West Ferdinand for a call of a man not breathing, according to Chicago Police.

Carlos F. Soto, 40, had been trapped under equipment and asphyxiated, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:49 a.m., authorities said.

Soto lived in the 3200 block of South 59th Court in Cicero. An autopsy ruled his death accidental.
