A northwest Indiana woman died and a man was injured in a rollover crash Thursday night in the Edgewater neighborhood on the North Side.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 7:25 p.m. on Lake Shore Drive near Sheridan Road, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

The passenger, 33-year-old Jillian Tsirtsis, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She was from Crown Point, Indiana.

The man driving the vehicle was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, according to police and fire officials.

Police said alcohol may have played a role in the crash. No charges were pending as of Friday afternoon.
