A northwest Indiana woman died and a man was injured in a rollover crash Thursday night in the Edgewater neighborhood on the North Side.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 7:25 p.m. on Lake Shore Drive near Sheridan Road, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

The passenger, 33-year-old Jillian Tsirtsis, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She was from Crown Point, Indiana.

The man driving the vehicle was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, according to police and fire officials.

Police said alcohol may have played a role in the crash. No charges were pending as of Friday afternoon.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
