The events of the past days have not been limited to one age group — or even one species. Adults, children, a puppy named Mohawk, and even the odd dinosaur took part in the city-wide demonstration.

Waves of red and picket signs have been hard to avoid these past couple of days across Chicago as the teachers union started staging their strike since Thursday, Oct. 17.

CTU educators, SEIU members and supporters throughout the city have been taking to the picket line just before dawn as the two unions go through their strike. The teachers union walked off the job after failing to reach a deal with Chicago Public Schools and Mayor Lori Lightfoot by the Oct. 16 deadline.

The teachers union announced Tuesday that it is making plans to strike through Thursday, and possibly next week.

The CTU on Tuesday morning welcomed Democratic presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
