Man killed in East Garfield Park hit-and-run

He was walking west in the 2600 block of West Van Buren Street when a vehicle hit him from behind and sped away, Chicago police said.

A 54-year-old Morgan Park man was killed in a hit-and-run Wednesday in East Garfield Park.

He was walking west in the 2600 block of West Van Buren Street at 7:50 p.m. when a vehicle hit him from behind and sped away, Chicago police said.

David Evans Turner was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy released Tuesday said he died of injuries. His death was ruled an accident.

The Chicago police Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
