A 57-year-old passenger died in a crash Saturday as his vehicle attempted to make a U-turn in suburban Antioch Township.

He was identified as Eleazar Hernandez of Mundelein by the Lake County coroner’s office.

Autopsy results released Tuesday revealed Hernandez died of head injuries from the crash.

The car he was in pulled out of a gas station parking lot about 5:30 p.m. near Route 45 and attempted to make a U-turn from the shoulder of Route 173, the Lake County sheriff’s office said.

While turning, his vehicle was struck by a Lexus and rolled over, the sheriff’s office said.

Hernandez was ejected from the car and taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he died, the sheriff’s office said. His driver was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

The man driving the Lexus was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, officials said Tuesday.
