Man fatally struck on Dan Ryan Expressway at 50th Street

The accident happened Tuesday in the southbound local lanes of Interstate 94, according to Illinois State Police.

A man was struck and killed by a car late Tuesday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 47th Street.

The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. in the southbound local lanes of Interstate 94, according to Illinois State Police.

Geraldo Sanchez, a 50-year-old Chicago resident, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lanes were closed for an hour while troopers investigated the crash.
