A 77-year-old woman was killed in a crash Sunday in south suburban Matteson.

Crews responded to a crash between a black 2018 Dodge Charger and a 2017 gray Nissan Sentra about 5:20 p.m. at Route 30 and Main Street, Matteson police said in a statement.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

She was identified as Florida Barnes, the Cook County medical examiner’ office said. An autopsy ruled her death an accident.

Investigators determined the Charger was eastbound on Route 30 when it collided with the Nissan which was making a left turn onto Main Street, police said.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team and Matteson police are investigating.
