A 64-year-old man died Tuesday after a crash days earlier in Gresham on the South Side.

Lester Hannon, of Back of the Yards, crashed into another vehicle Sunday in the 7700 block of South Racine Avenue, Chicago police said.

Hannon was driving south on Racine Avenue when he lost control of his Ford Taurus and struck a Cadillac driven by a 23-year-old man, police said. Hannon’s car spun out and struck a fire hydrant before coming to a rest.

He was injured on his leg and upper body and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died about 8 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled his death an accident.
