Man dies after East Garfield Park shooting

A man died about eight hours after he was shot Saturday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Martell Rhodes was walking in the 3800 block of West Huron about 1:35 p.m. when someone fired shots from a dark vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Rhodes was shot in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:25 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 4900 block of West Wrightwood.
