Nate Silver, the editor-in-chief of FiveThirtyEight.com and, if such a thing can exist, rock star data scientist, visited Jon Stewart and The Daily Show Thursday night to talk politics, sports and the new site.

Silver’s site has only been live for about two week, but has already caused a few dust-ups with posts on the chances of Democrats losing the Senate, climate change and childhood obesity. In this extended interview, Stewart talks of the importance of strong data analysis as the fuel for political punditry and Silver discusses the need for transparency – find their errors on GitHub! – and the challenges of leading a staff as “The Guy.’
