Throughout the 2015 postseason, Kyle Schwarber quickly became a national icon for his power hitting and “Schwar-bombs.” In nine games, Schwarber hit five home runs to cap off a solid rookie season.

The biggest highlight of his postseason came in Game 4 of the National League Division Series, when he hit an epic home run to right field in the seventh inning to give the Cubs the lead over the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Truth be told, Schwarber in that moment didn’t know where it went. The ball seemingly disappeared into the sunsetting sky.

Some thought it landed on Sheffield Avenue where a lucky fan snatched it. Others said it landed in Lake Michigan.

Neither are true.

Miraculously, Schwarber’s ball landed on the top ledge of Wrigley Field’s right-field video board, where it still sits to this day. After the playoff series-clinching win, the Cubs forever enshrined the ball in a plexiglass case.

Schwarber was set for an even bigger sophomore season, but then the unthinkable happened. The husky slugger tore his ACL and LCL in his left knee and missed the entire 2016 regular season, but managed to play in the World Series.

Schwarber didn’t bless fans with any “Schwar-bombs” in the World Series, but he did his job, batting .412 /. 500 /.471.

He talked about his most memorable home run and more in this week’s Chat Room.

Have you gone up there to see the ball?

Kyle Schwarber: “[I was told] it’s still up there. That’s cool. If it stays up there for the rest of the days of Wrigley Field, that would be awesome. ... I went up there once. It was after they cased it. It was me [and] David Ross. We went up there and took pictures with it, and that’s kind of cool.”

What kind of condition do you imagine it is in?

KS: “I don’t know, it’s in a box. So hopefully it’s pristine still.”

You’ve been eating healthy for the last two years. During the 2017-18 offseason, you lost a lot of weight and came to spring training looking fit. On the rare occasion when you do get to break your diet, what’s your favorite cheat meal?

KS: ”It’s definitely pizza. I love pizza and you’re kind of in the mecca of pizza in Chicago. It’s great.”

Do you prefer deep dish or tavern cut?

KS: “If it’s a cheat day, definitely a deep dish. Gotta get it all.”

How many pieces?

KS: “All of it. You kill it.”

Did you ever tag along with your father, who is a police officer?

KS: “I wouldn’t say I went on ride alongs with him. I would say when we would go home and there might be something on the way home, he might stop by and see what’s going on.”

Did you ever see anything crazy?

KS: “I saw a guy on a roof one time with the SWAT team there. I don’t know the whole background of the story, but that’s just a little memory that popped in my head. I would stay in the car — all the way back. You just don’t know what’s going on. They ended up getting the guy down and putting him into custody.”

Have you ever tased anybody?

KS: “No. And I’ve never been tased. Maybe one day. I don’t know. I’ve seen the videos. My dad showed me videos of people getting tased and it doesn’t look too fun. It looks just people seizing up.

“My dad said it’s one of the worst things. It sends your whole body into cramps. It feels like your whole body is cramping severely. Yuck.”

Who’s the best dancer on the Cubs?

KS: “Myself.”

OK, worst?

KS: “Myself.”

But you were in show choir in high school. Didn’t that make you a good dancer?

KS: “You would be surprised that even if you are in show choir it’s very choreographed and it’s very easy steps. I wouldn’t consider myself a break dancer. If you give me moves to practice, I could do them.”

So no back handsprings or anything?

KS: “No, I’m way too big for that. I’m not athletic.”

If you’re in a wedding and on the dance floor, what’s your signature move?

KS: “The floss. I was into Fortnite a little bit. So you have the floss and the loss [subtly demonstrates both moves].”
