Right-hander Lucas Giolito, who pitched the 19th no-hitter in White Sox history Tuesday, has been named American League Player of the Week for the period of August 24-30. It’s the third such career AL honor for Giolito.

Giolito, 26, issued one walk and matched his career-high with 13 strikeouts, facing one over the minimum and induced 30 swing and misses in a 4-0 win over the Pirates. It was the only no-hitter pitched in the major leagues this season.

Giolito (3-2, 3.09 ERA) opens a three-game series for the Sox (20-13) against the defending AL Central champion Twins Monday night.

Giolito also was named AL Pitcher of the Month for May 2019 and AL Pitcher of the Week for May 27-June 2, 2019. José Abreu was named AL Player of the Week for August 17-23.
