A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded Monday afternoon in Austin on the West Side.

About 4:15 p.m., he was walking in the 200 block of South Central when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire, hitting him in the chest, leg and arm, according to Chicago Police.

The boy later showed up at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, police said. He was listed in critical condition.

Police said the shooting likely was gang-related.
