Last month’s death of a South Side man who was shot nearly 20 years ago has been ruled a homicide.

Anthony L. Banks, 52, died at his home in the 3800 block of South State Street at 10:16 a.m. Sept. 30, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy was pending, but has since found that he died of complications from a remote gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The shooting happened in 1987, according to the medical examiner’s office.
