The intersection of Madison and Wabash in the Loop will be closed this weekend as crews continue construction of a new elevated CTA station.

The intersection will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday to allow for installation of foundations and support columns for the station, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation.

Motorists traveling west from Michigan Avenue should use Adams as an alternate before turning onto State and then Madison to continue to their destinations, CDOT said.

Additionally, the CTA Loop Link bus stop will be relocated to the west side of the intersection starting Monday until structural work is completed, CDOT said.

The CTA’s No. 20 Madison, No. 56 Milwaukee, No. 60 Blue Island/26th, No. 124 Navy Pier and No. J14 Jeffrey Jump bus routes will be rerouted via Michigan, Adams and State during the weekend closure, according to the CTA. Riders are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
