A 22-year-old man was ejected from his pickup and killed in a crash Saturday night near northwest suburban Harvard.

The 2010 Ford F150 was heading east on Streit Road when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at Route 23 in unincorporated Dunham Township, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office. The pickup struck a southbound 2012 Nissan Maxima.

The driver of the pickup, a 22-year-old Lake in the Hills man, was ejected, and was taken to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. His name was not released Monday afternoon.

The driver of the Nissan, a 24-year-old man, was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons. A 23-year-old woman and two-year-old boy who were passengers in the Nissan were taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital. The woman remains hospitalized in critical condition, but the two-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All three are from nearby Harvard.

The driver of the pickup was not wearing his seatbelt, according to the statement. All three people in the Nissan were wearing seatbelts. The airbags deployed in both vehicles.

The sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
