Man shot dead in Homan Square

A 41-year-old man was shot dead Thursday evening in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side.

About 6:40 p.m., someone walked up to DeAndre Walton in the 3500 block of West Polk and opened fire, hitting him multiple times, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Walton was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:56 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the first block of North Latrobe.

Police said the shooting was thought to be gang-related.
