A 58-year-old southwest suburban man was hit and killed by a semi on Interstate 80 during the Monday evening rush near New Lenox.
Ralph O. Sharp was struck by a Freightliner in the westbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 139 about 3:45 p.m., according to Illinois State Police and the Will County coroner’s office.
The Orland Park resident was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the death was a possible suicide.
No charges have been filed against the semi driver as of Tuesday afternoon.
