A teenage boy was seriously injured when he was shot in the face Friday afternoon in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The 16-year-old was shot in the face about 12:40 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Champlain, police said.

He drove himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center and was later transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
