A 17-year-old boy was shot in the back in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side Wednesday afternoon.

About 4:20 p.m., the teen was walking in the 500 block of East 43rd Street when several males walked up behind him. The teen and one of the males got into an argument, and the teen was shot in the back shortly after, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said.
