Felon who allegedly exposed himself to female CTA passengers held on $400,000 bail

An Oak Lawn man who allegedly exposed himself and performed a sex act in front of two female CTA passengers on the Red Line and Blue Line was ordered held in lieu of $400,000 bail Thursday.

Michael Robinson, who also goes by the last name Brown, attacked his first victim — a nursing student — while she was going home from school on the Red Line on Jan. 31, 2012.

As the train approached the 1300 block of Morse Avenue, Robinson leaned over the female commuter and allegedly ejaculated on her lab coat and backpack.

The woman and Robinson were the only two people in the train car at the time, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Colleen Rogers said.

Robinson, who blocked the 28-year-old woman so she couldn’t move, also took her cell phone and cash before fleeing at the next stop, Rogers said.

The woman immediately alerted police.

Semen recovered from the woman’s lab coat matched Robinson’s DNA, Rogers said. And the woman identified him in a photo array.

Then, this spring, Robinson allegedly masturbated near another woman when they were alone on the Blue Line near the 5000 block of West Congress Parkway.

Robinson got up, walked up to the woman and ejaculated on her thigh, Rogers said.

The 26-year-old woman pushed Robinson and told him to get away from her, but he didn’t budge until she hit the emergency button, Rogers said.

When the train stopped, Robinson ran into another car, Rogers said.

That victim called 911 and identified Robinson as her attacker on the afternoon of May 27.

The incident was also captured on CTA surveillance video, Rogers said.

Robinson, 31, was apprehended by CTA security officials Tuesday after he was identified from flyers, police said.

He was taken into custody in the 500 block of South Pulaski Road.

Robinson faces charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery in a public place, aggravated battery on the CTA and unlawful restraint.

He has eight prior felony convictions for attempted aggravated robbery, retail theft, possession of a controlled substance, theft, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and burglary.

He also has four misdemeanors, including a 2010 public indecency case.

Robinson has a GED and had attended Daley College for business administration, an assistant public defender said.
