If you forgot about the city’s annual winter overnight parking ban going into effect early Monday, you may be one of more than 200 people who were towed overnight.

Since the ban went into effect at 3 a.m., 239 cars were towed, according to Molly Poppe, spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation.

The same number of vehicles — 239 — were also towed on the first day of last year’s ban, Poppe said. Those numbers are down from 2012, when 301 vehicles were towed on Dec. 1.

Regardless of snow, the ban will be enforced along 107 miles of arterial streets 3 to 7 a.m. from Dec. 1 through March 31, 2015, according to the agency.

Violators face a minimum $150 towing fee, a $60 ticket and a storage fee of $20 per day. Vehicles will be towed to Pounds 2 or 6, at 10301 S. Doty Ave. or 6 or 701 N. Sacramento.
