Vernon Hills High School could not have picked a better year to host the Class 3A sectional that’s part of March Madness.
The Cougars have a strong team, and the following dominos also have fallen nicely into place:
1) Uplift from the Chicago Public League won the Mundelein Thanksgiving tournament but has dropped from 3A to 2A for this year’s playoffs.
2) Danger teams Carmel and Grayslake Central have moved up from 3A to 4A for this year.
3) The Cougars are better than perennial sectional champion North Chicago, making that very clear on Wednesday night with a resounding 65-41 victory.
