THE SKINNY

Geneva scored touchdowns on all six of its first-half possessions en route to a 42-20 victory over host Elgin. The Vikings outgained the Maroons 360-125 in the first half and also forced three turnovers by Elgin (0-7, 0-4).

TURNING POINT

Geneva (5-2, 4-1) received the opening kickoff and took just three minutes to put together a seven-play, 87-yard drive capped off by a 20-yard TD run by quarterback Daniel Santacaterina.

THE STAR

Santacaterina had five carries for 69 yards and was 8-of-9 passing for 117 yards in just two quarters of play. The junior quarterback also had five TDs, two rushing and three passing.

BY THE NUMBERS

Geneva ran the ball 28 times for 196 yards and was led by Liam Burns, who carried the ball 12 times for 92 yards. Elgin running back Jaylen Clemons had 17 carries for 103 yards and another 60 yards receiving to lead the Maroons.
