THE SKINNY

St. Edward celebrated homecoming by taking another step in its march toward the playoffs with a dominating win over Chicago Christian to improve to 4-2.

TURNING POINT

Davontae Elam opened the scoring on the first play of the Green Wave’s second possession with a 58-yard touchdown run.

THE STAR

Elam rushed for 228 yards and five touchdowns on runs of 58, 12, 4, 10, and 42 yards.  He became the Green Wave’s first player to surpass a 1,000 yards rushing since 2003.

BY THE NUMBERS  

St. Edward quarterback Joe Mullen added a 49-yard touchdown pass to Mikey Castoro.  Mullen was 6-for-8  for 116 yards.  All of his completions were to Castoro.

QUOTABLE  

“I just want to give all the credit to my linemen,” said Elam. “They have played their butts off all year. We had a hard week of practice because we knew this was a must win and we got the job done.”
