One of the state’s premier rivalries kicks off another year of Catholic League football broadcasts Friday.

Ninth-ranked St. Rita opens Catholic Blue play with a home game against No. 14 Mount Carmel at 7:30 p.m.

It’s the first of six games in the MeTV/Sun-Times Catholic League Blue Game of the Week series. The games will air on the U Too, which is digital channel 26.2.

Two-time defending state champion Mount Carmel will appear two more times: vs. No. 15 Brother Rice at Gately Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 3 and against No. 16 Loyola at Gately at 7:30 on Friday, October 24.

Loyola also will have three televised games; the others are at home against No. 8 Providence on Saturday, October 4 and at home against St. Rita on Saturday, October 18. Kickoff for both games will be 1:30 p.m.

Rounding out the schedule is Brother Rice at Providence at 7:30 on Friday, October 17.
