This season was the coming out party for the Cubs. Their lineup was filled with young prospects making their big league debut with outstanding results. But there seems to be more in the pipeline still to come.
Two players within the Cubs organization have been selected to the Arizona Fall League’s Fall Star Game. Catcher Wilson Contreras and pitcher Corey Black have been named to the East Team’s roster. Contreras is ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the Cubs program, Black is No. 19 and the ninth best pitcher.
Willson Contreras has played in 11 games this fall. Contreras is hitting .302/.380/.605 with four doubles, three home runs and a .985 OPS. Contreras has six walks and seven strikeouts in 43 at bats. Corey Black is 1-0 in six relief appearances for the Solar Sox with a 7.11 ERA and 1.89 WHIP. Black has given up six runs, five earned, on nine hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
The game will feature some of the top prospects in the minors from teams throughout MLB. The East team will play the West Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. CST. It will be aired live on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com.
The White Sox are also sending a pair of prospects to the game. Pitcher Robinson Leyer, their No. 16 prospect, and outfielder Adam Engel, the No. 17 prospect.
