Police: Man tried luring girl into vehicle in Back of the Yards

Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried luring a girl into his vehicle Saturday morning in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.

About 11 a.m., a man thought to be between 20 and 28 years old approached a girl in the 1400 block of West 51st Street and tried to get her in his vehicle, Area Central detectives said in an alert.

The girl, whose exact age wasn’t provided, refused to get in and ran down the street toward someone she recognized, the alert said. The man was seen driving away eastbound on 51st Street.

The suspect is described as black, with black hair, a goatee and a dark complexion, the alert said. He was seen wearing a white jacket and black T-shirt.

The vehicle is thought to be a newer model, white four-door vehicle, the alert said. The last three digits on the license plate are 9-7-3.

Any one with information can call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
