Police: Missing teen home safe after going to meet Facebook friend

A 15-year-old girl who was reported missing after she went to meet a Facebook friend for the first time has returned home, authorities said.

Lorraine Carter, 15, left her home in the 3700 block of West Grenshaw about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, heading for Douglas Park, according to an alert from Area North detectives.

On Wednesday evening, police issued a new alert stating she had returned home safely.

She was planning to meet a Corey Finney, a male of an unknown age whom she met on Facebook, the alert said. They were going to meet for the first time.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
