The Cubs and White Sox both had walk-off wins Wednesday, marking the first time both teams have walked off on the same day since Sept. 29, 1995.
Both the Sox and Cubs won by a 4-3 score on that September day in 1995, and in a weird coincidence, both teams won 3-2 on Wednesday.
Miguel Montero hit a solo home run in the 10th inning of the Cubs’ victory against the Brewers. It was their sixth straight win and 12th in 13 games.
A little bit later, Avisail Garcia doubled off the wall in the 13th inning to score the game-winning run in the Sox’ win over the Angels. Garcia has been the final batter in four White Sox walk-offs and has won games via a walk-off hit, walk-off walk and walk-off hit by pitch this season.
The walk-off win was the ninth such victory this season for the Sox, which is tied for second most in the majors. They trail only the 11 walk-off wins by the Cubs.
Here’s a look at all 20 walk-off wins by Chicago baseball teams this summer:
April 13: Arismendy Alcantara singles to right field with the bases loaded, scoring Jorge Soler from third in the 10th inning of a 7-6 Cubs victory over the Reds.
April 18: Starlin Castro lines a single to left with the bases loaded, scoring Anthony Rizzo from third. The Cubs beat the Padres, 7-6, with their second extra-inning, walk-off win in five days.
April 20: Melky Cabrera singles to center in the ninth inning, scoring Tyler Flowers and sending the White Sox to a 4-3 win over the Indians.
April 24: Avisail Garcia smacks a single to left in the ninth, scoring Melky Cabrera and propelling the Sox to a 3-2 win over the Royals.
May 10: Gordon Beckham hits a single to right off Aroldis Chapman that scores Avisail Garcia, giving the Sox a 4-3 win over the Reds. It was the hit that really introduced the world to the “straw that stirs the drink” gag.

May 13: Chris Coghlan draws a walk-off walk in the ninth to score Matt Szczur in a 2-1 win over the Mets.
May 15: Matt Szczur hits a one-out single to deep right with the bases loaded, scoring Starlin Castro for an 11-10 Cubs win over the Pirates in 12 innings.

May 31: David Ross hits a shallow single to left with the bases loaded to score Kris Bryant in the 11th inning of a 2-1 Cubs win over the Royals.
June 5: Avisail Garcia takes one for the team and gets hit by a 1-2 pitch from Alex Wilson to score Adam Eaton. The White Sox beat the Tigers, 4-3, in 11 innings. The pitch looked like it really stung, and getting mobbed by teammates afterward couldn’t have helped.

June 13: Starlin Castro singles to center in the ninth to score Kris Bryant in a 4-3 victory against the Reds.
June 14: Castro and the Cubs walk off on the Reds for a second straight day. Castro singles to deep left to score Chris Coghlan, and the Cubs won, 2-1.
June 21: Gordon Beckham homers to left field on the first pitch of the at-bat to send the White Sox to a 3-2 win over the Rangers in 11 innings.
June 23: Chris Denorfia hits a pinch-hit sac fly to center that scores Matt Szczur in the 10th inning of a 1-0 Cubs win versus the Dodgers.
July 8: Adam Eaton homers on a 1-0 pitch in the 11th inning to beat the Blue Jays, 7-6.
July 27: Kris Bryant hits a two-run home run that scores Dexter Fowler and gives the Cubs a 9-8 come-from-behind win over the Rockies. It was so good it needs to be watched again:
Aug. 5: Avisail Garcia walks with the bases loaded, scoring Adam Eaton in the 10th inning for a 6-5 win over the Rays.
Aug. 12: Avisail Garcia doubled off the wall in the 13th inning to score Jose Abreu in a 3-2 win over the Angels.
