Any concerns of a let down following their big upset of Stanford last week were put to bed early Saturday when Northwestern blew out Eastern Illinois.

The Wildcats played host Saturday afternoon and the game was put out of reach early. Northwestern took a 27 point halftime lead and never looked back.

Just as it was against Stanford, the Northwestern defense stole the show.

In addition to being shut out, Eastern was unable to convert a third down all game long. The Wildcats held EIU to only 139 yards on the game.

The highlight of the defensive game came in the final score of the game. Cornerback Matthew Harris intercepted a pass, returning it all the way for the capping score.

The Wildcats go on the road for the first time this season next week to play Duke.
