No, this is not Soldier Field, and the Chicago Park District had nothing to do with it.

Grass at the St. Edward High School football field in Elgin was accidentally destroyed due to a reported mixup between fertilizer and weed killer.

The school’s athletic director P.J. White told the Elgin Courier News:

The safety of our athletes will be the No. 1 thing we consider when we determine whether this game or any others are moved. Right now the field is in no worse condition than many fields are later on in the season. It doesn’t look great but there is grass there. We’re certainly not going to win any grass beauty pageants or anything.
