A man was killed and another critically critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday in the Pilsen neighborhood.
About 3:20 a.m., the men, 23 and 24, were driving in the 1100 West block of 18th Street when someone walked out of an alley nearby and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Both were shot in the head.
The younger man, later identified as Abraham Barrera, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:33 a.m., authorities said. Barrera lived in the 4100 block of West 58th Place.
The 24-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The shooting might have been gang-related, police said.
