Police are warning West Side residents about two carjacking incidents Friday morning in Austin.

In each incident, one or two men displayed a silver handgun and stole or attempted to steal the victim’s property and vehicle, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The first carjacking happened at 6:50 a.m. in the 5200 block of West Adams, police said. Ten minutes later, the same suspects attempted to steal a car in the 5400 block of West Madison, but did not succeed.

The suspects are described as black men 18-25 years old, standing between 5-feet-8 and 6-feet and weighing 125-180 pounds.
