A man was fatally shot in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood Friday night on the Northwest Side.

Emergency crews responded about 9:45 p.m. to the shooting in the 4500 block of West Deming, where they found 37-year-old Matthew Ehrenberg unresponsive inside a home with gunshot wounds to the armpit, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Ehrenberg, who lived in the same block, was dead at the scene, authorities said.

Police are conducting a homicide investigation, but additional details about the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately available Saturday morning.
