GREEN BAY, Wis. — While the Bears were playing Thursday night, Robbie Gould was landing a job.
The former Bears kicker planned to fly to London from Chicago to join the Giants before their Sunday game against the Rams, according to ESPN and NFL Network.
The Bears’ all-time leading scorer replace Josh Brown, who was not on the team in light of Wednesday’s release of documents detailing domestic violence toward his wife.
Gould was one of two kickers to work out for the Cowboys earlier this month, but Dan Bailey’s back problems didn’t keep him off the team’s active roster.
The Bears released Gould on Sept. 4, saying they preferred Connor Barth’s accuracy from mid-range. His 85.4 percent conversion rate on 323 attempts was a franchise record and ninth-best in NFL history.
He could see his former employer next month; the Giants host the Bears on Nov. 20.
