A north suburban man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday on Lake Shore Drive on the North Side.

About 4 a.m., a 2002 Hyundai was traveling in the northbound lanes of the 2800 block of North Lake Shore Drive when the driver lost control and the vehicle struck a tree, according to Chicago Police.

The driver, 26-year-old Mihir Damani, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:24 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Damani, the only person who was inside the vehicle, lived in the 3800 block of West Chase in Lincolnwood, authorities said.

An autopsy Monday found he died of multiple blunt force injuries from a vehicle striking a fixed object, and his death was ruled an accident.

Police think alcohol might have played a role in the crash. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
