A 23-year-old man died hours after being shot in the Hermosa neighborhood Sunday night on the Northwest Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired just after 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Karlov when they found the Samuel Williams unresponsive on the ground with gunshot wounds to the face, chest, back and hand, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Williams was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:33 a.m. Monday, authorities said. He lived in the 1900 block of North Kedvale.

Police did not have more details on the shooting Monday night as Area North detectives conduct a homicide investigation.
