A 25-year-old woman was drunk when she caused an Eisenhower Expressway crash that left a 10-month-old boy in her car on life support early Sunday, Illinois State Police allege.

She faces a felony aggravated DUI charge after being at the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra that was stopped in the right lane of eastbound Interstate 290 near Desplaines Avenue in Forest Park about 3:20 a.m. when a minivan slammed into the back of the car, state police said Monday night. Her name has not been released.

The boy was in the Hyundai without a proper safety seat, police said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he remained in critical condition Monday night. Police initially said the baby was a girl.

The 50-year-old man driving the minivan was taken to the same hospital along with the driver of the Hyundai. Their conditions were not released.

Two lanes of the expressway were for three hours while Illinois State Police investigated.
