Soon a stage show based on the “Cheers” TV classic will be arriving in Chicago — but it’s too early to apply the famous “Cheers” phrase “where everybody knows your name.” That’s because no casting has yet been announced.

Broadway in Chicago will be staging “Cheers Live On Stage” at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut, from Sept. 20 through Oct. 23.

The comedy will be performed in two acts and feature popular moments from the first season of the Emmy-winning hit series, which ran on NBC for 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993 and likely will continue in syndication for the foreseeable future.

It will be fun to see who is cast as the “Cheers” regulars at that famed Boston waterhole — including Norm, Carla, Cliff, Sam and Diane.
